24 Hour Access to the Library

Institutions around the country have access to their libraries 24 hours a day-7 days a week.  As Student Body President, I would like to make it so that at the very least the library is open 24 hours a day on weekdays.  Right now, during the parts of the year that the library isn’t open 24 hours a day, the only space available to students is the Education Center Lobby.  This is a great space in my opinion and I was incredibly pleased when Executive Vice President for Student Affairs Victor Wilson agreed to allow this space to be open 24 hours and to replace the old furniture with furniture that would be better to study in, but at the end of the day, the resources of our library trump it.  I know from experience that there are sometimes nights where a paper takes far longer than we expect to write or we need a space to study in.  The library for many allows a distraction free space with printers, large tables, study rooms, and of course books.  I want to make sure that the student body has a safe space to study at the College without the distractions of being at home.
