Time to get an Edumacation…

So today was an interesting day.  On my way to my first class of the day I saw Jackson.  I told him that SGA will be trying to work on the ongoing saga that is Webmail.  For those of you who will read this that aren’t College of Charleston Students, the College maintains their own mail system referred to as Webmail.  Webmail is a bit on the inconsistent side and there are many students (including myself) who wish we could outsource the College’s email to a company like Google or Microsoft.

Anyways, after that, I got to Macro-economics and I was early.  For whatever reason this semester I decided not to seek out my classes before they started, so I was surprised to find out that my class was in the Wachovia Auditorium.  Before today, I had only been inside Wachovia Auditorium once, so I was sort of excited.  Class slowly filled up and after a while, the Professor walked in.  He was relatively young and seemed like a nice man when he talked.  His grading system and syllabus seemed relatively normal, so I was pretty happy.  When he went into going over notes (oh how I love learning about opportunity cost), he started cracking a lot of jokes.  He sort of reminded me of Demetri Martin.  It also lead my mind to Tom Lehrer, a former Harvard Professor who made a name for himself with his political satire.

Anyways, after that was over I went to the office.  At the office I sat down and relaxed for about a minute and thought to myself about the rest of the day.  It was a nice little break to try to organize my thoughts.  After a couple minutes I went to Dr. Payment’s office and had her edit the Powerpoint that me, Sean, Isaiah, and John had put together to explain the election process to those interested in running.  Following that, we discussed the upcoming year and I talked to her about my mental health.  I am feeling a lot better since getting back to school and talking to someone.

Towards the end of my break I started dreading the idea of having Spanish and Public Speaking in the afternoon.  Either that, or maybe I was just annoyed, because me and Dan were bickering at each other at lunch and Grace was complaining to us about it all.  I realized that having a class in Bellsouth followed by a class in the Education Center was not my brightest idea, but I really wanted to take Public Speaking, so I am happy with my schedule nonetheless.

My spanish teacher turned out to be somewhat reminiscent of one of my Spanish III teachers in high school, Dra. Matias.  She was quick to joke.  Sra Toth is originally from Mexico City, but her English is very good.  I think that class will be interesting for sure.

After Spanish, I rushed my way down St. Philip St. to the Ed Center and ended up just on time for Public Speaking.  My professor was a new adjunct, fresh off her masters who to me didn’t seem all that interested in being there, especially when she went over the syllabus and let us go only about fifteen minutes into the class.

From Public Speaking, I ran over to Stern and sat down in my office.  Nothing too exciting there.  I had a couple phone calls, emails, and that sort of thing.  Shannon from LeaderShape came and visited for a bit and I showed her around the office.  It was good to see her.  She was a little confused over the little thing going on in the Stern Ballroom.  I think it was because their were fireman walking in and out, but who am I to guess about something like that.

Left the office at around five to go to the LeaderShape Reunion, but couldn’t stay for long, because we had the first informational meeting for SGA elections.  It went pretty well and attendance wasn’t too shabby.  Afterwards I went back to the office, talked to John for a minute and headed back towards Kelly House.

On the way back to Kelly, I stopped at the Hungry Cougar.  The Hungry Cougar is the a la carte option at the College.  Last year the service there was for lack of a better word, HORRIBLE.  I was pleasantly surprised with the friendly staff.  They made some minor changes that made the experience much more pleasant.  I got my usual Roast Beef Sandwich with provolone cheese and pickles.  Always tastes good with a Sprite to me for whatever reason.  Got some Fritos to go with it, but didn’t eat them, in fact they are on the desk next to my computer as I type this.

It’s nice to be back in Kelly House now sitting in the AC.  I am exhausted, but feeling pretty well beyond that.

By the way, as a new thing in my blog, I will be keeping track of how many times I trip over a brick walking and how many times I see President Benson.

Brick Trippings: 4.5

P. George Sightings: 1

Peace
