So yesterday I went to a panel held by AID. Three professors from the Political Science Department came and talked about statelessness and it really made me think about some things. I don’t really feel like writing a whole lot. More than anything, I want to know what you guys think. Here are some questions I have on the subject of the state and other related things:
If there were no citizens would there be a state?
What is more artificial, the state or the citizen?
Are we moving towards the end of the era in which there are rational state actors?
What if we had never become state actors?
How is a citizen type identity different from religion?
Is patriotism a civic religion or a cult?
I hope none of those were too crazy and deep. These are just different things I am thinking about.
