A Story from My Childhood

So I was in the shower the other day and decided that it would be fun to write a couple blogs about when I was little, so this will be the first of a series of entries about growing up.  I figured I would start with one about my days in elementary school.

This is back when I lived in New Jersey, in Millington.  I remember 1st grade at Gillette School like it was yesterday.    My classroom was in a tiny corner classroom, up the stairs from my kindergarten one.  I was excited to be in a new class with Ms. Vitolo.  My handwriting was terrible so I always had extra work.  One day we were doing our regular workbook work and I didn’t really feel like doing it so I kept asking questions and prying the answers from Ms. Vitolo.  I was able to keep doing this for two or three days until I was taken out of class by some other teacher.  I don’t remember who it was, but I remember going to another classroom where there were two old computers that used the old school floppy disks.  The teachers there were pressuring me to do my work on my own.  Without distractions, I was getting my work done faster than anyone back in class, and as a reward, I got baseball cards, football, cards and to play on the computer.  I can still remember the excitement of playing on the computer after finishing my work early.  I was very confused at the time, but realized that I had essentially won.  Teachers 0 Ross 1.
