I woke up this morning to my alarm clock at 6:15 as planned. Unlike planned, I was exhausted, reset my alarm, and slept until 7:29, showered, packed breakfast, got dressed, and headed to the car. On the way to camp at the traffic light right before camp I saw an old man driving an old Trans Am with an old wooden pipe in his mouth.
So next week is Color War and because Hadas is planning on going up to Barney on Thursday, the staff meeting for camp was rescheduled for Wednesday. Can’t wait to find out what exactly is going on for that, but I know it should be exciting. The week of color war is always one of the most exciting ones of the entire summer.
People at camp seemed to notice my haircut, but I mean who wouldn’t? I joked to one of my campers about my haircut, claiming I did not get it cut, but rather got in a fight with a lawnmower and it clearly defeated my hair. My ongoing attempt to grow a beard is sort of a good joke from time to time. It is growing in better than it ever did before, which is sort of nice. My face will not be cold during the winter if I can keep it grown like this for a while without my mom yelling at me.
For those of you who are leaders in your respective organizations, this is really important information, but you will also recieve it via email. Georgestock is on August 23rd, so I hope you are ready for that.
- On-going Registration Packets for Organizations that have not turned them in or did not turn in a completed packet are due on September 14th at 5 PM to the SGA Office.
- The first summit of the summit series will occur on September 1st at 5-7 PM and it is on Budget and Risk Management. The same summit will occur again on September 9th at 5-7 PM, so if you can not attend the September 1st session, you MUST attend the September 9th summit or a percentage of your budget will be deducted. Both sessions will be in the Stern Ball Room.
- The first Student Organization Street Fair will occur on September 10th on George Street. George Street will be closed down for this for new students to learn about all the organizations around the college.
- September 16, there will be a Student Organization Luncheon at the President’s Garden. The Presidents of all organizations at the college will be invited. Expect invitations three weeks before this.
- The summit for Programming 101 will be on September 23rd from 5-7 PM in the Stern Ballroom. Organizations must have a representative at this session just like at the Budget and Risk Management Summit.
- October 17 from 9-11 PM will be the optional Organizational Leadership Summit. Although this session is not Mandatory, going to this will be beneficial for communication for your organization, so I strongly recommend going to this. This session will also be in the Stern Center Ballroom
- November 5th from 5-7 PM will be another optional summit session on Recruitment and Retention. This session will be in the Stern Center Ballroom and I strongly recommend this session, especially for organizations that are small and hope to grow, organizations that have a lot of members who will be graduating seniors, and organizations that wish to retain membership.
So now that I have bored you to death with SGA business, I will end again with something from the Hangover, because this quote reminds me of reminding my campers to get change in the locker room after swimming:
Phil Wenneck: Would you please put some pants on? I feel weird having to ask you twice.
Peace
Ross
