Presidents,
\nThe end of summer is right around the corner, which means it is time to make sure we are ready for the beginning of the year for Student Organizations.\u00a0 This email contains a lot of important dates and times, so I recommend having a calendar or a piece of paper out to write down all of the dates and times.
\nDuring the year there will be several Student Organization Summit Series sessions, some of which are mandatory.\u00a0 The times and dates are as follows:<\/p>\n

A Student Leader who is not a new member (it does not need to be the Organization\u2019s President) must attend 5 out of 8 these sessions.\u00a0 One of the first two sessions (Budget and Risk Management), Programming 101, and the Annual Registration and Constitution Development Sessions are all mandatory.\u00a0 Registration for each of these sessions can be done on a rolling basis, or for all of the sessions at once.\u00a0 The deadline to register for any session is seven calendar days before the session date.\u00a0 Registration forms will be available online after August 14 through the Student Life website (www.studentlife.cofc.edu<\/a>).\u00a0 Registration forms should be returned to Diana Brown, Graduate Assistant for the Office of Student Life, and can be turned into Stern Center Room 405. Registered Organizations:<\/strong> that fail to attend the two mandatory sessions scheduled for the Fall 2009 semester, will not be able to apply for contingency funds during the 2009-2010 academic year, and all current facility reservations will be cancelled.\u00a0 Failure to attend the three mandatory and two additional sessions schedule throughout the academic year will result in organizations not being allowed to apply for contingency funds or reserve spaces on campus in Fall 2010.\u00a0 Any organization assessed theses penalties, will be considered in their first year dormancy, and must follow the steps on changing their dormant status outlined in the Compass. \nPenalties <\/strong>will be imposed on Organizations who don\u2019t attend the necessary Summit Series meetings and they are as follows:
\nSanctioned Organizations:<\/strong> that fail to attend the two mandatory sessions scheduled for the Fall 2009 semester, a 30% reduction of their allocated budget will be imposed, the organization will not be able to apply for contingency funds during the 2009-2010 academic year, and all current facility reservations will be cancelled.\u00a0 Failure to attend the three mandatory and two additional sessions scheduled throughout the academic year, will result in organizations not being allowed to apply for contingency funds or reserve spaces on campus in Fall 2010.\u00a0\u00a0 Any organization assessed theses penalties, will be considered to be in their first year of dormancy, and must follow the steps on changing their dormant status outlined in the Compass.<\/p>\n
\nFor all Organizations that are interested in having a cubicle in Stern Center, please make sure you apply.\u00a0 The forms for this are available on the Student Life website (www.studentlife.cofc.edu<\/a>) and are due back to Stern Center Room 405 by September 14th.
