Marriage, Contreversy, and More Camp Stuff

I read an interesting story on Yahoo today.  Apparently, Kelly Katrina Hildebrandt and Kelly Carl Hildebrandt are getting married.  They have the same name other than middle names and are getting married after meeting on facebook.  This in some way frightens me while at the same time interests me.  I wonder if that was the purpose Facebook was created for.  Will facebook one day becoming more like Match.com?  I’m not really entirely sure what the purpose was of facebook originally, but it sure wastes huge amounts of my time.  My understanding is that facebook was invented by Harvard Student Mark Zuckerberg, starting out based on Harvard’s facemash.  I don’t want to get into all of that right now though, because I don’t see where on earth this blog entry would go if I followed that path.

Tensions in Iran continue.  Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei released the following statement:

“The elite should be watchful, since they have been faced with a big test. Failing the test will cause their collapse,” Khamenei said Monday in a speech marking a religious holiday. “Anybody who drives the society toward insecurity and disorder is a hated person in the view of the Iranian nation, whoever he is.”

Despite tensions, I personally think that the best course of action for the US is to continue keeping its nose out of what is going on.  US interest is for a revolution in Iran, but any iota that it could have been caused by American Operatives of any type will increase tension in a region that without it is already the most volatile in the world.

One of my campers who had been gone for a week was back today and I think slightly confused.  I’ve been his counselor all summer, but today I was working in the ASD program for a day.  He didn’t sound too happy when I told him I’d be back with the group tomorrow, but oh well.  I’m going to miss my little ray of sunshine who I had today, but I’m pretty sure Joey will have a good time hanging out with him.

In case I didn’t mention this before, I restarted trying to grow a beard and am having moderate success.  I think it’s going to look really good once it has really grown in, but it is getting there, one small step at a time.

Edit: I can’t spell the word purpose, so a special thanks to Aaron Schulke for helping me out there.
